Young Krystle in Fife semi-finals

Krystel CaithnessKrystle Caithness, only 14 years old, reached Sunday morning's semi-finals of the Fife women's county golf championship at St Andrews Bay's Torrance course by knocking out St Regulus club-mate Fiona Lockhart on Saturday evening.
Young Krystle birdied the 19th hole to earn a place in the last four against Jo Carthew (Ladybank) who beat former Scottish champion Elaine Moffat (St Regulus) by 4 and 3. Jo was beaten finalist 12 months ago.
In the first round of the match-play Alison White (St Rule) beat defending champion Susan Millar (Kirkcaldy) at the 20th but then Mrs White lost in the quarter-finals to former Scotland international and four times past Fife champion Lorna Bennett (Ladybank).
Miss Bennett's opponent for a place in the final will be Lorna Fury (Thornton), winner of the title in 1999.
Saturday's results:
First round _ A White (St Rule beat S Millar (Kirkcaldy) at 20th, L Bennett (Ladybank) beat K Milne (Dunfermline), L Fury (Thornton) beat E Hodgetts (Balbirnie Park) 1 hole, J Duncan (Balbirnie Park) beat P Simpson (Lundin) 8 and 7, E Moffat (Regulus) beat L Fair (Pitreavie) 6 and 5, J Carthew (Ladybank) beat B Copland (Scotscraig) 2 and 1, K Caithness (St Regulus) beat E Wilson (Elie & Earlsferry) 7 and 6, F Lockhart (St Regulus0 beat M Campsie (Scotscraig) 7 and 6.
Quarter-finals _ Bennett beat White 1 hole, Fury beat Duncan 2 holes, Carthew beat Moffat 4 and 3, Caithness beat Lockhart at 19th.
