A 27 Short Hole Golf Competition played over the historic Bruntsfield Links, The Meadows, Edinburgh

15th - 17th September 2004

Following on from the tremendous success and enjoyment of the Lord Provost Charity Golf event over the last 3 years, we are delighted to say that for 2004 the event is being up-graded into the World Short Hole Pairs Championship. The event is a shot gun start for 54 teams (ie 2 teams per hole) run over a maximum of 6 sessions, allowing a maximum number of 324 teams. Tee times will be allocated and notified on receipt of your application, from Friday pm back. So if you are the 1st to the 54th application you will play Friday afternoon, the 55th -108th team will have a Friday am tee time and so on. We shall therefore only play on Wednesday if demand requires it.

The event is being sponsored by the Golf Tavern and again being organised by Aisling Development and The Sportsman’s Charity. Half of the funds raised will go to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, with the balance going to St Catherine’s Homeless Project and The Sportsman’s Charity for the One City Trust

The event is open to teams representing Companies, Organisations, Golf Clubs, Pubs, Hotels etc.

Team members must be over 18 years old and teams can be male, female or mixed.

The Competition is a 2-ball better-ball scratch stableford (2 players per team) over 27 holes. All the holes are Par 3 and points will be accumulated. Participants will be provided with sponsorship sheets and will be expected to persuade their company colleagues and friends to sponsor them per point scored or sell raffle tickets.

There are some great prizes on offer as well as the kudos of being World Short Hole Golf Champion.

There are also opportunities to sponsor a hole at £100 per hole.

Overall winners - A Weekend for Four at The St. Andrews Bay Hotel and Golf Resort kindly donated by The St. Andrews Bay Hotel and Golf Resort

Best Female Team - A day out at OneSpa at the Sheraton for two people

Best Mixed Team - A days Golf and Lunch for 4 at the St. Andrews Bay Hotel and Golf Resort again kindly donated by that nice Stephen Carter at St. Andrew’s Bay Hotel and Golf Resort

The entry fee for a team is only £20 and is simply to defray costs. The real charity benefit comes from players gaining sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues, who are all welcome to come and watch. So how many opportunities are you going to get to become a Golfing World Champion and raise money for worthwhile causes?
