Sara Garbett wins the English Strokeplay

Sara Garbutt (Ganton) won the English Ladies' Stroke Play Championship at Whittington Heath Golf Club with a 72 hole total of 294. Her third round 70 - 2 under par was the low round of the week, and she finished two shots ahead of Danielle Masters (Rochester & Cobham Park). Sara also won the Under 23 Championship and Danielle the Under 21. Under 18 Champion was Emma McBride (Upton by Chester) with a 72 hole total of 307.
Leading by three from Kerry Smith after 54 holes, Garbutt was only one ahead after nine holes of the last round after dropping shots at 4th & 5th. Smith was one ahead after 16 but double bogied the last two holes, while Garbutt finished par, birdie.
The leader after 36 holes Kirsty Fisher (Royal Lytham & St. Annes) had a disappointing third round of 81 and finished on 304, while her playing partner Rebecca Hudson was 7th on 301.
