THE six qualifiers for the Nick Faldo Junior Series Final at Burhill Golf
Club, Surrey from October 6 to 8 were decided with the last of the three
Scottish qualifying competitions over the Blairgowrie Lansdowne course
yesterday (Tuesday).
The teenagers who headed the six categories with the points they had accumulated
from the earlier rounds at Royal Dornoch and Loch Lomond, plus Blairgowrie,
were:
Euan Polson (Brora) (Under-15s), Richard Graham (Hayston) (Under-16s),
Lloyd Saltman (Kilspindie (Under-17s), Blair Paterson (Alloa) (Under-18s),
Stewart Clare (Horsley Lodge) (Under-21s) and Louise Fleming (The Hirsel),
winner of the girls' section.
Lloyd Saltman was the only one of the six who gained his place at Burhill
by taking full points from winning his age group yesterday. Lloyd shot
a 76 (35-41) despite a triple bogey 7 at the 15th and a bogey 5 at the
last.
The 15pt Lloyd gained for the Blairgowrie win enabled him to pip Andrew
Rollo from Elgin for the qualifying spot in the Under-17 years category.
 Louise
Fleming already had the girls' berth in safe keeping after the first two
qualifying events but, just to make certain, she had the best score of
80 in her section yesterday.
