SCOTTISH WOMEN'S COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
Portpatrick Dunskey
ANY one of the four competing teams could still win the Scottish women's
county championship at Portpatrick Dunskey on the final day.
After title-holders Stirling & Clackmannan's 5-4 win over Aberdeenshire
and Dunbartonshire & Argyll beaten Borders 6-3, each county has a
record of one win and one defeat at the end of two days.
Stirling & Clackmannan came back from 2 1/2- 1/2 in arrears after
the foursomes to beat Aberdeenshire with wins in the singles coming from
Curtis Cup player and Scottish champion Heather Stirling, fellow international
Lynn Kenny, skipper Linda Robertson, Katie Mathieson and Elaine Allison.
Dunbartonshire & Argyll also took a winning lead in their singles
against Borders with wins by British mid-amateur champion Anne Laing,
fellow international Claire Hargan, Louisa Ruane, Judy Galbraith and Claire
McNeil.
The final fixtures see Stirling & Clackmannan meeting Dunbartonshire
& Argyll while Aberdeenshire play Borders.
It's going to be a photo-finish. No doubt about that.
