Fife win the Cuthberson Cup
Fife and East Lothian fought a nerve-racking battle this afternoon
at the Glen Golf Club, North Berwick, for the Cuthberson Cup.
In the opening match, Krystle Caithness (St Regulus), recent winner
of the SLGA / St Leonards Under 16 Open Strokeplay title, was three
down with three to play against Fiona Hindshaw (Haddington), and
had to pull out all the stops to secure a half.
Ashleigh Wilton (Ladybank) , a student at Elmwood College, was dormie
4 against a tenacious Claire McLaughlin (Kilspindie), who took her
to the 17th green before succombing. Ashleigh was under par for
her holes played.
The third match involved Becky Copeland (Scotscraig) and Sarah Horsburgh
(Dunbar) and there was little in it as they fought all the way to
a half on the 18th green.
Tail-gunners, Hannah Harvey (St Leonards) and Megan Barbour (North
Berwick) also took their match all the way to the 18th, and shared
the honours.
The final result was Fife 2.5, East Lothian 1.5.
In the morning, East Lothian beat Midlothian by 3 matches to 1,
and Fife beat Stirling and Clackmannan by a similar margin.
Midlothian and Stirling and Clackmannan played two foursomes matches
in the afternoon, and shared them at 1 match apiece.
