Ulster win Irish inter-provincial title

in 'photo-finish' at The Island

Ulster won the Interprovincial matches by a 1 match winning margin after Ulster, Munster and Leinster tied on 2 points at The Island Golf Club.

2nd Leinster 2 pt (14 matches won).by two holes up.
3rd Munster 2 (14 matches won).
4th Connacht 0 (six matches won).

Connacht's fine striking of the ball paid off on Day 3 as they unsettled Ulster by winning the morning foursomes series of matches. Top two pairings of Niamh Kitching/Sarah Helly and Anne McCormack/Ailbhe Farrell both secured 2 and 1 wins for Connacht before Ulster's Nikki Currie and Tara Gribbon came back in their match against Kate Gallagher and Holly Robinson to win by 1 hole.
Victoria Bradshaw gave Ulster the lead in the top singles match, beating Anne McCormack 2 and 1 - Ulster in need of a good winning margin did not disappoint and Louise Coffey followed in with another 2 and 1 result, Charlene Reid won 3 and 1, Gemma and Bronagh both also won and Tara Gribben halved with Holly Robinson - as a result Ulster won the trophy.

Munster and Leinster had a tense foursomes affair, the top two matches were both halved with Leinster coming back in the second match from 1 down playing the last to secure a birdie with Munster taking two from the greenside bunker.
Linda Toomey and Karen O'Neil gave Munster the edge with a win on the eighteenth green.GGillian O'Leary gave Munster the lead in the singles beating Maria Dunne but Leinster were on fire with Rachel Cassidy holding off a stern challenge from Munster's Laura McCarthy to win by 1 hole.
Aedin Murphy, Louise Mernagh, and Karen Delaney sealed the match for Leinster with wins while Ciara Butler halved with Karen O'Neill.
