VIKKI JOINT 40th IN ILLINOIS TOURNAMENT

Vikki Laing from Musselburgh was lying joint 40th after the first round of the Team WLF.org Classic, the latest event on the United States Futures Tour, at Kankakee Elks Country Club, Saint Anne in Illinois.
The Scot had halves of 38 and 36 for a two-over-par 74 over the 6,244yd, par 72 (35-37) course to be six shots behind the joint leaders, Brooke Tull (35-33) and Celeste Troche (34-34) from Paraguay.
Troche had only 21 putts, including a chip-in birdie in her round while Tull had 27 putts.
South Wales amateur Natasha Morgan, playing the No 2 American women's professional tour while on summer holidays from Lynn University, Boca Raton in Florida, had a 76 (40-36) while Brenda McLarnon from Belfast had a 79 (36-43).
The temperature touched 79 degrees with winds gusting to 18mph.
