English Ladies Golf Association Press Release

ALEX PETERS (13) SCORES DOUBLE WHAMMY
WIN AT NORTH OF ENGLAND UNDER-16s

Nottinghamshire’s Alex Peters swept the board for the girls at the North of England Under-16 championship at Heswall.
The 13-year-old from the English Ladies’ golf Association’s Select Midlands squad won both the Under-16 and Under-14 titles.
Alex, the Midlands ladies’ champion from Notts’ Ladies, was three-under par for the 72-hole tournament with a total of 293.
Pat Smillie, ELGA’s national junior coach, said: “It was a fantastic performance. She birdied the first and the last holes of her final round but she just played very consistently throughout the tournament.”
English Under-13 champion Hannah Turland (Tidworth Garrison) was third in the Under-14s. “This was a very good result for Hannah. It’s the first time she’s played in an England squad and she returned a very creditable score,” said Pat.
Overall, she paid tribute to the performance of the ELGA squad at the championship, which shows much promise for the future.
“We’ve got a lot of up and coming talent,” said Pat.
