English Ladies Golf Association Press Release

ENGLAND NAME THREE NEW CAPS IN TEAM FOR
HOME INTERNATIONALS AT DUNBAR

New British strokeplay champion Melissa Reidwill help England to defend their title at the Home International Matches at Dunbar from September 12-14.
She is named in an eight-strong team which combines five experienced internationals with three new caps. The side will be captained by Jenny Clink (Lilley Brook).
The newcomers are Claire Aitken, the English mid-amateur champion from Kent, Rachel Jennings, the 2006 English girls’ champion from Staffordshire, who finished fifth in the British stroke-play, and Danielle Montgomery from Buckinghamshire, who was runner-up in the English strokeplay championship.
They join English champion Naomi Edwards and her Yorkshire colleague Rachel Bell, Liz Bennett, the 2006 English stroke-play champion from Hampshire, Melissa Reid from Derbyshire, who has also won this year’s Scottish stroke-play title and the St Rule Trophy, and Kerry Smith, the ELGA order of merit titleholder from Hampshire.
The reserve is Bedfordshire’s Holly Aitchison who is the Portuguese amateur champion and the winner of the St Andrews junior ladies’ open.
Rachel Bell, Naomi Edwards, Melissa Reid and Kerry Smith all played all four days of the Women’s British Open at St Andrews, where Melissa won the amateur salver. Together with Liz Bennett they were all also members of GB&I’s Vagliano Trophy team.
Kerry, Naomi and Melissa helped Great Britain to win the Commonwealth Tournament earlier this year. They were joined by Rachel Bell, among other players, in the England side which took the bronze medal at the European team championships.
English stroke-play champion Jodi Ewart, from Catterick in Yorkshire, and English girls’ champion Ellie Givens, from Blackwell Grange in Durham, were not available for consideration for this team because both are studying at university in the USA.
The Home International Matches coincide with the Junior Solheim Cup when Europe’s team will include two other English players: Florentyna Parker, the French lady junior champion from Royal Birkdale, and British girls’ champion Henrietta Brockway from Yeovil.
England's team for Dunbar is:
