SEA TRAIL INTERCOLLEGIATE
WINNER ANDREA DOWNER
COMES FROM SURREY

Apologies to Andrea Downer, a 20-year-old sophomore student at Murray State University, for not recognising her as English - and belated congratulations for her individual victory in the recent Sea Trail Intercollegiate tournament.
Andrea, pictured right, went to Murray State a year ago from Surrey and quickly established herself as the Racers’ No 1 female golfer. She won the Sea Trail event with rounds of 74-71-70 for a one-under-par total of 215 over the Willard Byrd course (par-72, 5,947yd) at Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
She played the last 36 holes in three under the card and was the only competitor in the field of 78 to finish under par for the 54-hole event.
Andrea's previous best finish was a fourth place showing last autumn at Arkansas State. She now has six top-10 finishes on the American women's college circuit to her credit.
Another English-born student, Emma Taylor from Devon, who attends Bethune Cookman College at Daytona Beach, Florida, finished second to Miss Downer in the Sea Trail Intercollegiate.
Emma scored 72, 74 and 72 for a 218 total and runner-up position behind Andrea Downer.

+Murray State University is based at the city of Murray in Calloway county in the Kentucky. It has a college roll of 10,304 students.
