Press Release

500 JUNIORS WILL TRAVEL TO CURTIS CUP
MATCH WITH FUNDING SUPPORT
FROM THE R&A

More than 500 junior golfers will travel to the 35th Curtis Cup Match this summer (30 May - 1 June 2008) in St Andrews with transport costs met by The R&A.
Juniors from each of the 15 counties, designated by the Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association, will make the journey and witness the leading amateur players in women’s golf, from Great Britain and Ireland and the United States of America, compete for the first time in St Andrews.
Dr Sheila Hartley, secretary of the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association, said, “We are delighted that so many of our junior golfers will be able to attend the Curtis Cup. Our association is grateful to the R&A for providing transport that will allow girls from all over Scotland to experience this event live.”
The Ladies’ Golf Union has allocated four adult season tickets per county so that accompanying adults can also attend the match. Juniors will be admitted free throughout the match when accompanied by one of their county representatives.
Since the inaugural contest in 1932, honours in the match favour the United States, 25 wins to 6 with 3 tied matches.
