Lesley Atkins wins Scottish
Under-14 girls' title

Lesley Atkins from Minto Golf Club was the outstanding winner of the girls' title in the Scottish Under-14 open championship at the Glen Golf Club, North Berwick today.
Lesley's excellent scratch score of 74 gave her a six-shot victory from an English challenger from Bolton, Amelia Taylor (St Anne's Old Links) and won her the Caddies Cup and a £25 voucher.
Lesley had five of a handicap when she started the round but her score was only two over the CSS of 72 (par 73), so some revision is called for.
Three players shared third place on 83 in the gross returns - Nicola Taylor (Thornton), Sophie Myles (Ilkley) and Sophie Alexander from Deeside. Sophie Alexander was awarded the bronze medal because she had the better inward half.
Amelia Taylor won the best net prize with a 66 off 14.
Next came Nicola Taylor (Thornton) and Clara Young (North Berwick) with net 71s. Nicola lays of13 and Clara 22. Nicola's better inward half earned her the handicap second prize.
