Strathmore mother & daughter come back from six down to
reach last 16 of
Daily Mail foursomes

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The Strathmore Golf Centre mother and daughter partnership of Sandy and Alexandra Bushby (picture right by courtesy of Dawn Butchart) staged an amazing fightback to reach the last 16 of the Daily Mail women's foursomes tournament.
They beat their opponents from the Glen club, North Berwick at the 19th - despite being six down after only seven holes.
Alex holed a 15ft putt on the last to take the match up the 19th where the Strathmore pair triumphed.
The 16 winning pairs in the seventh round of this the 48th staging of the Daily Mail's British-Irish women's foursomes tournament all go forward to the Grand Final at the Marriott Dalmahoy from October 19 to 21.
Other Scots through to the last 16 are a pair from Anstruther in Fife and Loudoun, Ayrshire.
There will be a fourth Scottish couple through because one tie has still to be played to complete the seventh round and it features McDonald Ellon from Aberdeenshire against Carnoustie Caledonia.
Alex Bushby is a member of the Perth & Kinross team who will bidding to win the Scottish county team championship at Inchmarlo Golf Centre, Banchory from Friday to Sunday at the end of this week.
++Would be delighted to give the names of the Anstruther and Loudoun (as well as the winners of the McDonald Ellon v Carnoustie Caledonia) players on this website, if they could E-mail the information to Colin@scottishgolfview.com
