Carnie is best of Brevard College


Scots in North Carolina event

Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club member Grant Carnie from Ellon, a junior (third year) student at Brevard College, finished joint 12th in a field of 82 for the Montreat College Spring Invitational college tournament at Glen Cannon Golf Club, Brevard, North Carolina.
Carnie, pictured right, had the joint best first round of 71 over a par-72, 6,700yd course, but a second-round 77 for 148 saw him finish six shots behind the winner, Brad Williams (Limestone College) with scores of 72 and 70.
Brevard College has four Scots on its golf roster.
Myles Johnson, a senior (fourth and final year) student from Bo'ness had rounds of 74 and 79 for a share of 25th place on 153.
Craig Galloway, also a senior year student, from East Calder, West Lothian, tied for 32nd place on 155 with scores of 77 and 78.
Aberdeen Deeside Golf Club member Tom Rennie, a freshman (first year) student, had rounds of 80 and 77 for 157 and a share of 39th place.
Brevard College (594) finished second to Limestone College (589) in a field of 14 colleges for the team event.
GRAEME MOLLOY JT 33rd AT FORT WORTH
Graeme Molloy (Grand View College, Des Moines) finished in a tie for 33rd place on 149 with scores of 73 and 76 in a field of 78 for the UST Texas Intercollegiate tournament at Hawks Creek Golf Club, Fort Worth.
Graeme, from Glasgow, had rounds of 73 and 76 to finish 12 shots behind the four-stroke winner, Nathan Rau (Mobile) with great scores of 68 and 69 over the 6,847yd, par-72 course.
Grand Viewe (592) finished fifth of nine in the team event won by Oklahoma Baptist (570) from Texas Wesleyan (576).
