Leona and Kelsey share lead with nine

holes to play ... one ahead of twin Lisa

With nine holes to play 14-year-old Leona Maguire (Slieve Russell) and Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar) were locked in the lead at three under par for the tournament … only one shot ahead of Leona’s twin sister Lisa.
Leona, one shot clear of Kelsey and Emma Brown (Malton & Norton) at the start of the round at four under par, birdied the first hole after a superb approach shot to within 18inches of the flagstick.
But she bogeyed the par-5 fourth and the par-4 ninth to be out in one-over-par 38.
Kelsey birdied the long second and the long fourth to improve to five under par overall and at that moment had taken over the tournament lead.
However, the Nairn player bogeyed the seventh and eighth to fall back to three under par.
Lisa Maguire, starting the day two shots behind leader Leona and one behind Kelsey and Emma, bogeyed the third but birdied the short fifth and the seventh to get to three under par and a share of the lead … before she bogeyed the Postage Stamp short eighth to fall back to two under par for the tournament.
Emma Brown, with bogeys at the first, second and ninth, was level par at the turn.
OUTWARD HALVES (par 38):
Leona Maguire 38.
Kelsey MacDonald 37.
Lisa Maguire 37
Emma Brown 40.
