Andrew Cooley claims place at the

NCAA Championships in Ohio

Andrew Cooley from Surrey, a freshman student at San Diego State University, finished joint 24th in a field of 75 players at the NCAA Division 1 men's West Regional championship at Lake Merced Golf Club, Daly City in California.
Cooley, pictured right, scored 72, 72 and 70 for a total of two-under-par 214 and will be playing at the NCAA championships at Inverness Golf Club, Toledo, Ohio from May 26 to 30 as San Diego State finished fourth in the team event from which the leading five teams qualified.
Arizona State had three students in the top four. Swedish player Jesper Kennegard scored 66, 68 and 70 over the par-72, 6849yd course for a 12-under-par total of 204. He won by one shot from Bronson Burgoon (Texas A&M) with 69, 72 and 74 for 205.
Knut Borsheim and Chan Kim, both Arizona State, tied for third place on 207. Borsheim scored 69, 70 and 68, Kim 71, 67 and 69.
Arizona State (828) won the team title ahead of Oregon (837), Texas A&M (840), San Diego State (849) and Southern California (853).]
It was the seventh straight West Regional championship victory by Arizona State.
