Midlothian could be even money

chance to win East Div title

FROM THE EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS WEBSITE
By MARTIN DEMPSTER
Midlothian will be hoping a recent pattern continues in the three-day East Division women's inter-county team championship, which get underway at Falkirk Carmuirs on Monday.
They've won the event in the odd years since 2005, with Fife having taken the title in the even years. On both occasions, Midlothian also went on to claim the Scottish crown.
Six members of the side from four years ago will be in action again next week, namely Kirsten Blackwood (Craigmillar Park), pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, Claire Hargan (Mortonhall), Claire MacDonald (Gullane Ladies), Karen Marshall (Baberton), Wendy Nicholson (Broomieknowe) and Jane Turner (Craigielaw).
Hargan, MacDonald, Marshall, Nicholson and Turner were also in the team two years ago and with them this time around are Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe) and Rachael Watton (Mortonhall).
County champion Hargan and Turner will be the mainstays of the team, the latter having boosted her hopes of a call-up for this season's home internationals at Irvine in September with a third-place finish in last weekend's Irish open stroke-play championship.
Midlothian tee off against East Lothian, with Fife facing Stirling & Clackmannan in the other tie.
