BROGAN TOWNEND TAKES U16 GIRLS' CROWN

Holly Clyburn wins Under-21 girls' title

in Faldo Series Final in Brazil

FROM COLIN FARQUHARSON
Only limited news coming out of Brazil concerning the final round of the Nick Faldo Series Grand Final.
Conditions must have been bad for the last day.
English girls champion Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) shot a closing 80 - but won the Girls' Under-21 title with a total of 229.
Her mum Allison says:
"Holly has been bitten to bits by mosquitoes and felt ill while playing her round. It was hot and humid and her putter did not work as well as the day before (when she had a two-under-par 70)."
First and second-round leader Carly Booth (Comrie) was runner-up in the Under-21 girls' category. She had a closing round of 84, to finish two shots behind Holly Clyburn on 231. Hannah Barwood (Knowle) had an 81 to finish third on 233.
Brogan Townend from Lancashire won the Under-16 girls' title by five shots with a total of 232. She shot a very good 74, including two birdies, on the last round. Well done, Brogan!
Heidi Baek was joint runner-up with Vitoria Teixeira (Brazil) on 237. Heidi closed with a 79, Vitoria with an 82.
Hopefully, the Nick Faldo Series website will come up with more news and the final totals later today.
In the meantime, many thanks to Allison Clyburn for some news about how it all finished in Brazil!
