Coble v Leach for US women's mid-amateur title

FROM THE USGA WEBSITE
OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Laura Coble and Martha Leach advanced to the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur final on Wednesday, beating past champions at Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club in the tournament for players 25 and older.
The 45-year-old Coble, from Augusta, Georgia, beat two-time champion Meghan Stasi of Oakland Park, Florida 5 and 4, and the 47-year-old Leach, from Hebron, Kentucky edged 1998 champion Virginia Derby Grimes of Meridian, Mississippi by one hole.
In the morning quarter-finals, Coble beat Christy Schultz of Rochester, N.Y., 3 and 1, and Leach topped Dawn Woodard of Greer, South Carolina by one hole..
Leach made a 36-foot par putt on the 18th green to beat Derby Grimes.
``I just willed that baby in,'' Leach said. ``I love the outcome. I didn't sleep at all last night because I don't know where the ball is going. I can't hit it in the fairway. From midnight until 6 this morning I wanted to get up and tinker with my swing.''
Coble led after the first hole, was six up at the 13th tee and closed out Stasi with a par on the par-3 14th.
``It's a surprising thing, but it's a wonderful thing,'' Coble said. ``Everything else is gravy.''
