KRYSTLE IN LATE EVENING PLAY-OFF SUSPENDED
BECAUSE OF DARKNESS AT ALWOODLEY

Krystle Caithness from Cellardyke, Fife could yet give Scotland a ninth qualifier for the match-play stages of the Ladies' British open amateur golf championship at Alwoodley Golf Club, Leeds.
After a second-round 76, Krystle was one of 11 players who had 36-hole qualifying round totals of 154 who started a play-off in rainy, murky light at 8.45pm tonight to decide which three of them would get the last places in the knock-out stages.
After two or three circuits of the first and 18th holes, seven players had been eliminated, leaving Krystle, Canadians Sue Kim and Jessica Potter and Kate Coombes from Australia still there fighting it out for the three places.
Just after 10pm, championship manager Fraser Munro decided it was too dark to continue and the play-off was suspended. It will resume at 5.45 in the morning.
The players who were eliminated in the play-off were: Ireland's Gillian O'Leary (Cork) and Niamh Kitching (Claremorris), Sarah Garbutt (Ganton), Karly Pinder (Canada), Corisande Lee (West Lancs), Camille Fallay (France) and Clare Choi (Australia).
Earlier seven Scots crashed out of the championship at the conclusion of the second qualifying round, including 14-year-old Carly Booth with a nightmare round in pouring rain.
The 14-year-old Perthshire prodigy looked a banker bet for one of the 64 places in the match-play stages after an opening round of two-over-par 74.
But Carly, out in the worst weather of the day - steady rain set in early in the afternoon - took 10 shots more in the awful conditions, an 84 for a 36-hole total of 158.
She missed out by four shots the 11-way play-off on 154.
Carly had the kind of start you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy - well, maybe you would - a bogey 5 at the first a quintuple bogey 9 at the par-4 second, and a bogey 6 at the third, to make her seven over par after only three holes.
Things did not get better and she reached the turn in eight-over-par 45, then ran up double bogeys at the 12th and 14th for 39 home.
The other Scots who missed the cut on 154 were Rachael Livingstone (Musselburgh Old) 74 for 155, Sara Bishop (Cochrane Castle) 77 for 155, Anne Laing (Vale of Leven) 79 for 157, Gemma Webster (Hilton Park) 81 for 161, Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) 81 for 163 and Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) 81 for 171.
The good news was that six Scots made it through without involvement in the play-off - Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) 77 for 149, Laura Murray (Alford) 74 for 150, Heather MacRae (Dunblane New) 74 for 150, Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon) 75 for 151, Roseanne Niven (Crieff) 73 for 151, Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry) 74 for 151, Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) 76 for 152.
Spain provided the first and second qualifiers - Carlota Ciganda with a 68 for six-under-par 138 and Azahara Munoz, 68 for 140.
