DUMFRIES-SHIRE LOSE BUT WIN SOUTH TITLE
ON GAMES-WON COUNTBACK

Borders beat Dumfries-shire 5 ˝-3 ˝ in the final match at Thornhill Golf Club today – but it will be Dumfries-shire who go forward ast South Division champions to the Scottish women’s county golf finals at Tulliallan at the end of August.
Earlier in the three-day programme, Dumfries-shire beat Galloway 7-2 and Galloway beat Borders 5-4.
Following Borders’ win, that meant all three teams had one win to their credit.
The tie-breaker was individual games won and Dumfries-shire (10 ˝) came out on top ahead of Borders (9 ˝) and Galloway (7).
