WON BY CRISTIE KERR

Catriona Matthew from North Berwick finished the leading European in the United States Women's Open championship won by American Cristie Kerr at Pine Needles Lodge Golf & Country Club, Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Catriona, pictured right, who had had her first child within the past year, had rounds of 75, 67, 74 and 73 for a five-over par total of 289 over the par-71 lay-out, She finished joint 16th.

Laura Davies and Annika Sorenstam both finished on 292 while Janice Moodie totalled 294.
