LEWIS KIRTON jt 59th IN INDIANA
Lewis Kirton from Oldmeldrum, a second-year student at the University of Lousiville, Kentucky, finished joint 59th in a field of 75 for the Ping Golf Week men's college golf tournament at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex at Lafayette, Indiana.
The Newmachar member had scores of 79, 77 and 75 over the 7,467yd course (par 72), for a total of 231 - 22 shots behind the two-stroke German winner, stefan Wiedergruen (Charlotte University) with 70, 71 and 68 for seven-under-par 209.
English students Tom Sherreard (Georgia State) and Tom Oliver (Purdue) finished joint 19th and joint 37th respectively.
Sherreard scored 75, 71 and 75 for 221. Oliver's scores were 783, 76 and 76 for 225.
Charlotte (867) won the team event from Oklahoma State (871) with Southern California (873) third and Alabama (881) fourth.
Louisville (898) came 12th of 15 with Georgia State (901) 13th and Purdure (903) 14th.
