BECKY DOWELL TIES FOR 12th
IN HATTER FALL CLASSIC
AT DELAND, FLORIDA

Becky Dowell from Thornecombe, Fern Grimshaw of Dorset and Emma Taylor from Devon - all students at Bethune Cookman College, Daytona Beach, Florida, finished joint 12th, 22nd and 25th in the Hatter Fall Classic college tournament at Victoria Hills Golf Club, DeLand in Florida over a par-72, 6,007yd course.
Senior year student Becky, pictured right, scored 80, 79 and 73 for 232 in her final competition before the mid-winter college golf season break.
Fern, also in her final year, shot 80, 80 and 77 for 237 while junior student Emma had rounds of 75, 80 and 83 for 238.
A fourth English-born student was also in the field of 45 - Danielle Gibb from Sittingbourne and a student at Jacksonville University, Florida. She scored 84, 77 and 92 for 253 and 41st place.
Winner of the tournament by three stroke was Praewnapa Phol-Uaporn (Florida Atlantic), from Bangkok, Thailand with 69, 73 and 75 for 217.
Bethune Cookman (933) finished joint fourth behind Stetson University (902) in the team event.

LAURA CUTLER 18th AT BEACH BASH

Laura Culter (Jacksonville State University, Alabama), a freshman student from Nottingham, came 18th of 70 players in the UAB Beach Bash at The Peninsula Golf Club, Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Laura scored 80 and 75 for 155 over a par-72, 5,909yd course.

Team-mate Portia Abbott from Wiltshire had rounds of 78 and 84 for 162 and a share of 38th place behind the winner, Amber Litman (East Carolian) with 70 and 75 for 145.

Jacksonville State (625) finished seventh of 14 behind East Carolina (589) in the team event.
