LADIES PRO TOUR STARTS IN SOUTH AFRICA
THIS WEEK WITH WPGA MASTERS

Johannesburg (19 February 2008)
Finland's Kaisa Ruuttila is back in town to defend her title at the
WPGA Masters at Parkview Golf Club this week, the first of four events
on the 2008 Ladies African Tour (LAT).
The 24-year-old Ruuttila who claimed a seven under par victory at the
WPGA Masters played at the Waterkloof Country Club last year, finished
tenth on the 2007 LAT Order of Merit. Having tied sixth at the 2007
Finair Masters, Ruuttila will be looking for a strong finish this week,
as she takes on the likes of England's Rebecca Hudson, the highest
ranked LET player on this year's local professional tour.
With 10 top ten finishes, Hudson finished in nineteenth position on the
LET's official money list, will be eager to notch up a further win
since claiming victory at the 2006 Acer Women's SA Open.
This year's LAT boosts a strong international compliment of
professional players from more than eighteen countries, including
thirty-five LET players such as Laurette Maritz and eighteen year old
Ashleigh Simon who represented South Africa at this year's 2008 Women's
World Cup of Golf. The stylish Swede Johanna Westerberg, who finished
twenty second on the 2007 LET money list will no doubt turn a few heads
with her elegant play.
South Africa's Tsebo Mokoena, having spent the last year in George
working on her teaching professional status, returns to the tour as one
of this season's Rookies.

Champions from the 2007 LAT who are back to defend their titles include
South Africa's very own Lee-Anne Pace winner of the Pam Golding Ladies
International, and the Acer Women's SA Open champion, Ashleigh Simon.
There are also more than thirty amateur entries this year, including
the four top local junior stars: Dominique Jacobs (Western Province)
Bertine Strauss (North West Province) Chloe Garner (Boland), and
Hermine Greyling (Boland).
Play gets under way from 07h00 tomorrow for first round of the 2008
WPGA Masters at Parkview Golf Club, Johannesburg.
