French Junior Championships

England's Rachel Jennings and Ireland's Lisa Maguire are both through to meet each other in the second semi-final of the Esmond Trophy, the French Junior (U21) Championship held at St Cloud near Paris.
Rachel, from the Isaak Walton club beat Caroline Masson from Germany by 2 holes in this morning's quarter-final, and 12 year-old Lisa saw off another German challenger, No 2 seed Lara Katzy by 5 & 4. Lisa's winning margins have been 6&5, 5&4, and 5&4 against some very stiff opposition.
The first semifinal is an all Spanish affair, with the top qualifier, Carlota Ciganda playing her compatriot Ane Urchegui.
In the Claude Roger Cartier Trophy, the U18 subsidiary tournament for those that did not qualify for the main event, Lisa's twin sister Leona is also through to the semi-finals after winning by 2 holes on the last green this morning against German girl, Maria Tschida. She now meets Spaniard Begona Jauregui Garcia for a place in the final.
