LUCY AND SINEAD MAKE
CONTRASTING STARTS TO
PINEHURST CHALLENGE

Twice past Welsh girls champion Lucy Gould (East Tennessee State University) was in joint third place with a 75 (40-35) after the first round of the Pinehurst Women's Challenge college tournament over the No 8 course at Pinehurst.
Lucy, pictured right, is one of five players on the 75 mark, two shots off the pace being set jointly by Steffi Kirchmayr (College of Charleston) 37-36 and Christine Wolf (Tennessee-Chattanooga) 38-35.
Sinead O'Sullivan (East Tennessee State) from Galway, Ireland, a winner in her last tournament, found out what she knows already: golf can be a funny game.
She had an 84 (38-46) to be languishing in joint 80th place ... but there are two rounds still to go.
In the team event it's East Tennessee State (307) ahead by four shots from Tennessee-Chattanooga, whose women's head coach is, of course, Scot Colette Murray.
