Busy month of June on cards for Ellon player

MICHELE ENTERS US PUBLIC
LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP
AT WISCONSIN

Curtis Cup debutante Michele Thomson from Ellon has entered the United States women's amateur public links championship at Erin Hills, Wisconsin from June 16 to 22.
Michele, 20, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency (all rights reserved), has also entered the British women's open amateur championship at North Berwick from June 11 to 15.
She reached the quarter-finals of the "British" at Leeds last year.
"Michele entered the American event, taking advantage of her exeption from pre-qualifying as a Curtis Cup player. She is very keen to go across to the States for the championship but we shall have to see how much the 'British' takes out of her. It would be a tough two weeks, plus the travel," said her father, Graham Thomson.
Five members of the US Curtis Cup team for St Andrews plus a reserve have also entered the US women's amateur public links championship, one of the prestigious events under the auspices of the United States Golf Association.
Playing in America would be no new experienced for Michele Thomson. She spent a few months on the American women's college circuit as a student at Jacksonville State University, Alabama. She also played successfully on the Florida women's amateur tour at the start of this year, highlighted by a third place behind Curtis Cup team-mate Liz Bennett in the South Atlantic Ladies Amateur championship.
