West Girls beat East to win the Mhairi Mackay Trophy

The annual girls' match between the East of Scotland and the West, which is played for the Mhairi Mackay Trophy, was lucky to go ahead after a number of the girls suffered lengthy delays in travelling to Murrayfield Golf Club due to a fatal accident which closed the M8 for several hours on Sunday.
Unfortunately, two of the girls from the West did not even make it through to Edinburgh to compete.
However six singles matches went ahead and were contested in great spirit, most were very close. The West girls, on the day, played the better golf, winning 4-2 to take the trophy home.
Results (East names first):
Gillian Simpson lost to Eilidh Briggs 4 and 3.
Rachael Watton bt Jill Meldrum 6 and 5.
Cara Easton v Gillian Scanlan - not played.
Camilla Tait lost to Zoe Differ 2 holes
Gabrielle Macdonald bt Nicola Ferguson 3 and 2.
Stacey Cameron lost to Natasha Qayum one hole.
Rachel Hanlon v Alyson McKechin - not played.
Helen Goodwin lost to Nicky Wilson 6 and 5.
