Curler Eve Muirhead wins

Highland Women's Open

International curler Eve Muirhead showed her experitise in another sport, golf, when she made a successful defence of the Women's Highland Open championship over her home course at Pitlochry Golf Club today.
Eve, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, got into the field at the last minute as a late entry, having failed to beat the cut in the North of Scotland women's amateur championship at Strathmore Golf Centre, Alyth. She then proceeded to beat the long-standing Pitlochry course record in the qualifying rounds at the end of which she was the No 1 seed by some 14 shots.
In the end, Eve won the title by beating Sal Shepherd (Craigmillar Park) by 3 and 2 in the final.

Championship - Semi-finals -
Eve Muirhead (Pitlochry) bt Claire Capocci (Bridge of Allan) 4 and 2.
Sal Shepherd (Craimillar Park) bt Hannah Harvey (St. Rule) 2 and 1
Final - Muirhead bt Shepherd 3 and 2.

Silver Handicap - Semi-finals:
Kathryn Green (Bridge of Allan) bt Alice Archbold (Longniddry) 2 and 1.
Kay Baillie (Craigmillar Park) bt Lande Pattinson (Pitlochry) 6 and 5.
Final - Green bt Baillie 4 and 2.

Bronze Handicap - Semi-finals:
Jean Lumsden (Dalmahoy) bt Fiona Seaton (Pitlochry) 6 and 5.
Maureen Donaldson (Dunfermline) bt Kathleen Booth (Bridge of Allan) 3 and 2.
Final - Donaldson bt Lumsden 2 holes
