Cooley and Reid out of the

hunt in California


Andrew Cooley (San Diego State University) from Surrey and Gavin Reid (Southern California University) from Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland were well down the field after two rounds of the USC Collegiate tournament at North Ranch Country Club, California.
Gregor Main (UCLA) - sounds Scottish but he's California-born and bred, leads the field of 79 with rounds of 68 and 70 for four-under-par 138 over the par-71, 6869yd course.
He leads by one shot from a cluster of six players.
Freshman Cooley, pictured above by courtesy of Tom Ward Photography, is joint 50th on 150 with a pair of 75s.
Reid, a big young man at 6ft 4in, has scored 78 and 74 for 152 and a share of 61st place.
Stanford (560) lead the 13 teams from Brigham Young (562), California (5710 and UC Irvine (579).
