JAMES BYRNE NOW SHARING LEAD

AT SAWGRASS COUNTRY CLUB

Banchory's James Byrne, a student at Arizona State University, is sharing the lead with one round to go in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational men's golf tournament at the Sawgrass Country Club, Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida.
Byrne, who held the pole position on his own with an opening round of four-under-par 68 over the 6,955yd course, could not repeat his first-day bag of an eagle and four birdies. Instead one birdie (at the short 15th) and bogeys at the third and 14th added up to a one-over-par 73 and a 36-hole tally of three-under-par 141.
He was joined in the lead by Zack Byrd (Coastal Carolina) with rounds of 71 and 70.
Walker Cup team contender Chris Paisley (Tennessee University) from Newcastle is sharing 13th place on 150 with rounds of 73 and 77.
