Par-matcher Michele jt third

after first round in Florida

Michele Thomson from Ellon, still waiting to make her debut on the Ladies European Tour, matched the par of 72 in the first round of this week's Suncoast Ladies Tour event at Rock Springs Ridge Golf Club, Apopka in Central Florida yesterday.
There was no competition last week and Michele, pictured in the Florida sunshine, won the one the week previously to score her first victory as a professional golfer.
She had halves of 37 and 35 against the scorecard of 36-36 to be lying joint third, one shot behind joint leaders Jacqueline Barenborg (35-36) from Florida and Germany's Miriam Nagl (37-34) from Berlin.
There is a field of 29 players competing in the 54-hole, three-day event over the 6,223yd, par-72 course.
