Sally Watson's 74 on debut for

Stanford makes her jt 54th

Heavy rain has washed out today's second round in the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship college tournament at Vanderbilt Legends Club, Franklin in Tennessee.
Curtis Cup Scot Sally Watson made her playing debut for Stanford University, California in the first round. A round of two-over-par 74 for the 6,271yd course was not a bad start by any means - but, astonishingly, 36 players beat the par of 72!
Sally, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, will start Sunday's final round sharing 57th place in a field of 90 after a round which had bogeys at the eighth, 11th and 12th with only one birdie, at the 17th.
Candace Schepperle (Auburn) and Jennifer Song (Southern California) are leading the field, but only by one stroke, with brilliant opening rounds of six-under-par 66.
Spanish ace Carlota Ciganda (Arizona State) had a 71 after running up a double bogey 6 at the second. She birdied the 13th, bogeyed the 14th and then birdied the 16th, 17th and 18th for 33 home.
Auburn and Southern California set a tournament low record of 278 in the team event's first round but they are only two shots ahead of Alabama and Arizona State, so high is the general standard of play.
Stanford scored 287 and are 12th of the 17 competing teams.
