Home winner in Spanish women's amateur international championship

Nerea Salaverria from Spain, the No 6 seed, won the Spanish women's amateur international championship, at Platja del Pals, Girona today.
She beat the No 5 qualifier, Sweden's Emma Nilsson by one hole in the 18-hole final.
Nerea, who comes from San Sebastian, had a double celebration later - this was her 18th birthday!
Last year two different French players won the Portuguese and then the Spanish women's amateur international championships, the first main events on the European women's amateur calendar.
This year, two different Spaniards have achieved the feat. The "Portuguese" was won by Anna Arrese, the No 2 seed, who lost in the quarter-finals of the "Spanish."
