TAIN SISTERS WIN NORTHERN COUNTIES FOURSOMES

Tain sisters Mary Smith and Ann Ryan won the Northern Counties women's county foursomes at Brora and now progress to the SLGA finals for the Comonwealth Spoons, to be played over their home course on Thursday, September 20.
The partnership last won the North qualifier in 1984.
At Brora Mary and Ann were the lowest handicap pairing, just 4½. Their gross score was 76 (36-40) and, less their handicap, that came down to 71½ for them to win by one shot from Wick's Marion Mackay and Alison Mackenzie.
