SCOTLAND THIRD AFTER ONE ROUND AT WESTERN GAILES

Scotland, spearheaded by a 68 from double native champion Kevin McAlpine (Alyth), are lying third behind France and England at the end of the first of two qualifying rounds to decide the eight countries who will make up the championship match-play flight in the European men's amateur team tournament at Western Gailes.
