HANDA CUP TEES OFF IN FLORIDA

WORLD MAKE A FLYING START TO LEAD
AMERICANS 9-3 AT DAY 1 LUNCHTIME

The World team took a 9-3 lead over the United States after the morning nine-hole foursomes in the two-day Handa Cup match for over-45s women professionals at World Golf Village, St Augustine in Florida today.
With 2pt awarded for a win and one for a halved match, the World got off to a flying start by winning the first three matches.
Nancy Scranton and Christa Johnson stopped the rot with a 3 and 2 win over a Japanese pairing.
The sixth tie of the morning was square after nine holes and still level after the playing one extra hole. Under the rules of the competition the tie was then declared a halved match.

Beth Daniel & Rosie Jones lost to Nanccy Harvey & Mieko Nomura 1 hole.
Pat Bradley & Patty Sheehan lost to Jan Stephenson & Alicia Dibos 3 and 1.
Cindy Rarick & Sherri Turner lost to Dawn Coe-Jones & Barb Scherback 3 and 2.
Nancy Scranton & Christa Johnson bt Michiko Okada & Angie Tsai 3 and 2.
Sandra Haynie & Marilyn Lovander halved with Nayoko Yoshikawa & Maria Alice Gonzales after 10 holes.
