STIRLING STUDENT DAVID BOOTH
SHARING 2ND PLACE AT SUN CITY

Stirling University student David Booth and England's Andy Shakespear, both members of the Great Britain team, are sharing second place in the world universities' men's golf championship at Sun City, South Africa. Booth slipped back a little after an opening 69 with a second-round 76 for 145, a total also achieved by Shakespear with a 72 and 73.
Italy's Leonardo Motta leads with 68 and 72 for 140.
Another Stirling student, Paul Betty, is sharing 30th place on 156 with scores of 77 and 79.
In the men's team championship Great Britain (442) are lying third behind Italy (439) and Japan (440).
Laura Murray (Robert Gordon University) had a second-round 85 which dropped her to 29th place on 164, 17 shots behind Swiss leader Caroline Rominger with 74 and 73.
Surprisingly, Danielle McVeigh, a member at Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland, winner of the women's title in Thailand 12 months ago has performed well below her potential this week in South Africa. She is lying 42nd in the women's field of 44 competitors with rounds of 90 and 88 for 178.
In the women's team championship, Great Britain (308) are fourth behind United States (296), Switzerland (299) and France (305) with Ireland (318) ninth of 13.
