News from the United States college golf circuit

Ross Leeds finishes second at Aledo, Texas

Odessa College team-mates Ross Leeds, a member of Muckhart Golf Club, and Kris Harper, the 2007 winner of the Craw's Nest Tassie, Carnoustie, finished second and joint 23rd in a field of 37 players for The Wrangler college tournament at Split Rail Links Golf Club, Aledo, Texas.
Ross had rounds of 74 and 75 for a total of 149 over a very long course, 7,353yd (par 72). He finished one shot behind the winner, Jaime Garcia (Lon Morris College) who shot 76 and 72.
Kris Harper had scores of 79 and 81.
Odessa (604) won the team title by two shots from Lon Morris with McLennan (613) third.

Gavin Wilson makes top 20 in North Carolina

Gavin Wilson from Ladybank and Arbroath's Jamie Blake, both students at Post University, Connecticutt, came joint 19th and 28th respectively in a field of 43 players for the Johnny Palmer at Old North State men's college tournament at Old North State Club, New London in North Carolina.
Over a course of 7,102yd (par 72), Gavin scored 87 and 77 for 164 while Jamie had scores of 86 and 82 for 168, so both obviously found the going tough, perhaps the combination of bad weather and a longish course.
Brad Robinson (Carson-Newman College) won the individual title with 73 and 74 for 147.
Carson-Newman (621) also won the team event ahead of Pfeiffer University (629) with Erksine College (638) third and Post University (657) fourth in a field of six teams.

Guilford College student Peter Latimer from Markinch finished joint 29th in a field of 58 players at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate over a 7015yd (par 71) course at Pine Needles Lodge & Club, South Pines, North Carolina.

Stuart Bryson (Wingate University) from Drumpellier tied for 43rd place with a pair of 80s for 160.
