ANOTHER FOUR-FIGURE CHEQUE FOR VIKKI LAING

Vikki Laing earned another four-figure cheque by finishing joint 10th in the United States Steel Classic at Lost Marsh Golf Club near Lake Michigan.
Vikki had scores of 75, 73 and 73 for a five-over-par total of 221 on a course with hard and fast greens and a wind off the lake. She birdied the first and sixth and dropped a shot at the third in her last round and was heading for a sub-par score until she dropped shots at the 13th and 15th.
Her pay cheque was for $1,217.
Winner of the event by three strokes was Allison Fouch from Grand Rapids, Michigan with 72, 76 and 66 for two-under-par 214. Her brilliant final round lifted her up from joint sixth at the start of the final day.
Londoner Polly Willett tied for 45th place with scores of 78, 78 and 73 for 229. Polly was going well in her final round with a birdie at the 1oth and then an eagle at the 12th. Then she bogeyed the 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th.
