NEIL AND PAMELA TOP OF SCHOOLS' GOLF CLASS

A brilliant round of seven-under-par 61 over the Gullane No 3 course helped Neil Henderson (West Lothian) win the Scottish schoolboys' golf championship on a day when some of the scoring was as hot as the sunshine.
Pamela Pretswell (South Lanarkshire) won the schoolgirls' title by seven strokes form the favourite, Kelsey MacDonald (Highland) with scores of 68 and 70 over the Gullane No 2 and No 3 courses for a fine total of 138.
Kelsey scored 74 and 71 for 145 for second place in a field of 40 girls.
Neil Henderson, a member at the Glen club, North Berwick, had a 66 over the No 2 course and his total of 127 also put him seven shots clear of runners-up Tom Hayes (East Lothian) (68-66) and Alan Murdoch (Dumfries & Galloway) (71-63) at the head of a field of 43 boys.
Many pro golfers would love to have a sub-30 half on their CV and here is Neil achieving the dream nine-hole score as a teenager.
He achieved a five-under-par outward half of 29 (433 334 324) and came home in two-under-par 32 (424 253 444) for his 61.
Murdoch's 63 was the second lowest round of the day.
Not surprisingly, East Lothian (399) ran away with the boys' team title, thanks to the efforts of Neil Henderson, Tom Hayes and Shaun Gordon.
They won by 22 shots from Perth & Kinross (Sam McLaren, Daniel Young, Paul McPhee).
Highland, represented by Kelsey MacDonald from Nairn and Sammy Vass from Tain, won the girls' team title with a combined score of 295.
They finished four strokes ahead of South Lanarkshire's Pamela Pretswell and Gillian Scanlan with Angus (Rebecca Wilson and Andrea Bowie) third on 306.
