Laura and Amy down the field

in Sunflower Invitational


Laura Jones (Oklahoma City University), a Royal Liverpool Golf Club member from Cheshire, and Ami Story (Kansas State University), from Ponteland in North-east England, finished joint 28th and 80th respectively in a field of 92 for the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational women's college tournament at Alvamar Golf Club, Lawrence in Kansas.=
Over a par-72, 6,242yd course, Laura, pictured above, scored 81, 80 and 77 for a total of 238 while Ami scored 80, 90 and 86 for 256.
The individual winner was Emily Powers (Kansas) with scores of 77, 75 and 71 for 223.
Kansas team-mate Jennifer Clark finished second on 225 with scores of 74, 75 and 76.
Eve Santillan (Oral Roberts) came third on 226 with scores of 77, 73 and 76.
Kansas University, despite their 1-2 in the individual standings, did not win the team event. That honour went jointly to Nebraska and Oral Roberts University on 926.
Illinois State (930) were second and South Florida (931) third ahead of Kansas (934) and Kasas fifth on 934, one shot ahead Oklahoma City in a field of 15 teams.
