MICHELLE WIE AND VIKKI LAING
IMPROVE POSITIONS IN QUALIFIER

Michelle Wie moved up to second place with a 65 and Vikki Laing also improved her position with a 73 in the second round of the LPGA Qualifying School regional eliminating competition at Rancho Mirage, California today.
Only the leading 30 and ties from a field of 130 after four rounds go on to the Final Q School at Daytona Beach from December 3.
Wie's score, the lowest of the tournament, for a 36-hole tally of 135 pushed her up to second place, three shots behind South Korean Sun-Ju Ahn who retained the lead with a repeat 66.
Musselburgh exile Vikki is sharing 22nd place on 145 with Becky Brewerton from Wales and Alison Walshe, the Irish-born US Curtis Cup player.
The field was cut to the top 70 and ties at the halfway point of the tournament.
That was a first hurdle cleared for Vikki.
