NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Staffordshire’s Bronwyn Davies won the EWGA Midlands North regional girls’ championship with a level par score over 36 holes at Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire.
Bronwyn, from Wolstanton, was two-over par in the morning and two-under in the afternoon. The 16-year-old, from EWGA’s Select Midlands Squad, won by a shot from Megan Illingworth, who was playing on her home course. The championship was played between storms but, despite the conditions, produced some magnificent golf. One spectator watched the afternoon three-ball of Bronwyn Davies, Lianna Bailey of Nottinghamshire and Kirsty Condon of Lincolnshire and calculated that they had 15 birdies and an eagle between them.
The Midlands North region is made up of six counties: Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire.
