Double bogey at short 17th knocks back

Paul Ferrier's hopes of par round

LATER NEWS OF FINAL
ROUND: Paul Ferrier had a 79 for 227 ... James Byrne an 80 for 234 and Gavin Reid a 76 for 240. Back at breakfast time with an updated story and scoreboard.

EARLIER
Former Scottish boys' match-play champion Paul Ferrier (Charlotte University) repeated his two-over-par first round of 74 on the second day of the Southern Highlands Collegiate tournament in Nevada - but he dropped from a share of 23rd place to joint 31st place.
Over probably the longest golf course Paul has played - 7,510yd, par 72) - the Baberton Golf Club member birdied the fourth, sixth and 10th but bogeyed the fifth, 10th and 14th.
He was heading for a creditable par-matching round of 72 until he ran up a double-bogey 5 at the short 17th.
James Byrne (Arizona State) from Banchory got back on track with a 73 - birdies at the 17th and 18th - after an uncharacteristic first round of 81. James was in joint 67th place before Sunday's play.
Gavin Reid (Southern California) from Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland had a bad day with one triple bogey and two double bogeys in halves of 44 and 41 adding up to an 85 and 79th place in a field of 80 after 36 holes.
Morgan Hoffman (Oklahoma State) shot into a three-shot lead with a marvellous second round of 10 under par 62 for a 10-under tally of 134. He leads by three from Cameron Tringale (Georgia Tech) who is on 137 with scores of 67 and 70.
Oklahoma State (561) lead from UNLV (573) with Arizona third on 576. Charlotte (600) are currently 11th of 15 teams.

KIRSTY STILL SCORING IN THE 80s
No sign of a turn for the better yet in the US college playing fortunes of young Surrey county team player Kirsty Rands (Mississippi).
Freshman Kirsty had second-round 83 to add to her opening 81 over a par-72, 6424yd course. She is lying 93rd in a field of 95 with a total of 164.
Calle Nielson (Virginia) leads the field by two shots with scores of 67 and 71 for 138.

SCOTT CARMICHAEL IN TOP 10 AT DAYTONA BEACH
Scott Carmichael (Johnson & Wales University-Florida) is lying joint ninth in a field of 79 after the first round of the 20th Eagle Invitational tournament at Pelican Bay Country Club in Daytona Beach, Florida.
(Thanks to Neil Henderson's mum, Linda, for confirmed that Scott is a Scot and is a member of Baberton Golf Club).
Howard Reed (South Carolina Beaufort) and Matthew Clouse (Lee University) share the lead on 71.
