Scottish Universities Order of Merit event in Ayrshire

Repeat wins at Dundonald Links by James White
and Jane Turner (by 17 strokes!)

James White (Stirling University), the 2006 Scottish boys' champion, and Jane Turner (Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen), a Scottish girls' international, both won their second Scottish Universities Order of Merit stroke-play golf tournaments in a row at Dundonald Links in Ayrshire today (Thu).
Fifer White repeated his October win at Blairgowrie with an eight-over total of 224, leading throughout with scores of 77, 71 and 76. On a second day of wind and rain, White managed to hold his position for a three-stroke win from runner-up Cameron Gray (St Andrews University) (78-74-75).
Jane Turner, from Penicuik, also made all the running to follow up her Blairgowrie victory with scores of 76, 77 and 76 for a total of 229. Jane played well to maintain her consistency in today's testing conditions and won by the runaway margin of 17 shots from former Borders champion Emma Fairnie (Edinburgh University) who scored 81, 85 and 80.
Third was Jane's college team-mate Laura Murray, a full Scotland cap from Alford, with scores of 81, 85 and 82 for 248.
Surprisingly, Kelsey MacDonald (Stirling University), the Scottish Under-21 girls champion from Nairn Dunbar, finished only sixth with three rounds of 85 for 255.
