JUG BY FIVE SHOTS AT DUNDONALD
Bothwell Castle scratch player Colin Baird won the inaugural Paul Lawrie Foundation Junior Jug Grand Final by five strokes over one round at Dundonald Links, Ayrshire today.
Baird matched the par of 72, a great effort in the testing conditions which pushed the CSS up by three shots and was non-counting (reductions only).
Runner-up on 77 was Jamie Lynch (Falkirk Carmuirs) with Scott Gibson (Southerness) and Eamon Bradley (Mount Ellen) sharing third place on 78.
The leading girl was Katie McCracken (Powfoot) with a 91, two shots ahead of Megan Clyne (Deeside). The girls' CSS was 76 as their SSS was 73.
The field of 56 qualified through area eliminators.

Tour's season-ending tournament
NEWS RELEASE FROM US DURAMED FUTURES TOUR
A logjam at the top of the leaderboard could be expected at the Duramed FUTURES Tour's final event of the year, this week's $110,000 ILOVENY Championship at Albany, New York State.
And as players push to win the final tournament with hopes of making one last charge up the money list, a logjam was exactly what happened today when six players carded a score of 4-under-par 67 to share the lead after the opening round.
"I hit it OK, but today, the putts finally dropped," said Liz Janangelo of West Hartford, Conn., who carded a bogey-free round with four birdies to share the lead with Mo Martin of Altadena, Calif., Song Yi Choi of Seoul, South Korea, Nontaya Srisawang of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Libby Smith of Essex Junction, Vt., and Dewi Claire Schreefel of Diepenveen, Netherlands.
With the end of the 2009 season only two rounds away and players' nerves on edge, the Capital Hills at Albany course offered smooth and speedy greens and generous fairways, in spite of punitive rough. Still, the region was finally graced by perfect weather conditions and players took advantage of a good day for scoring on the hilly 6,124-yard, par-71 course. Five of the co-leaders played in the morning rounds, with only Schreefel joining the leaders in the afternoon.
Janangelo, who won twice on the Duramed FUTURES Tour in 2007, said she took five days off and worked only on putting and her short game. That focus made a difference today, with the former LPGA Tour member needing only 28 putts for her share of the lead.
But it was Martin, a two-time career winner on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, who literally battled mind over malady today with an injury to her left back and ribs. Martin withdrew from the pro-am earlier in the week and even considered withdrawing from the tournament this morning. The mysterious ailment to her back limited her to hitting only 20-some full shots since Monday.
"It hurt every time I swung the club, so I told my caddie this morning that I was going to wince 40 times and only have 26 putts," said Martin, who was only two strokes off from her prediction with 28 putts today. "I really had no idea what today would look like. I guess it goes back to the old theory of how they say, 'Beware of the sick golfer.'"
Currently ranked 11th and trying to crack into the top 10 to regain LPGA membership for 2010, Choi's scorecard featured three birdies and three bogeys on her front nine, but the Korean rallied on the back to post four birdies and eliminate the bogeys.
"I know I have to make a move on Sunday, and today, I was a little bit scared," said Choi, who hit 14 greens in regulation. "But I got good confidence on the back nine. That was better."
Like Choi, Srisawang is still adjusting to East-Coast time after playing last week in Portland, Oregon in the LPGA's Safeway Classic. The Thai player admitted that she slept only three hours last night, but still felt "comfortable and calm" in today's opening round. She carded five birdies and one bogey today, including three consecutive birdies on holes 10, 11 and 12 with no putt longer than four feet.
"I'm not thinking about stress or how I was going to play," she said. "I actually feel really good and everything was pretty smooth on the back nine, which has some very challenging holes."
Smith also birdied the first three holes on the back nine, where she started her round today.
The Vermonter finished the day with six birdies and two bogeys, but with the new resolve that took form late in the season after some straight talk from her private housing host in Syracuse last month. Recognizing the natural athleticism of the former college basketball star, the host suggested to Smith that "a good round for you is 66, not even par."
"It totally made sense and it really changed my mindset," said Smith, in her sixth season as a professional. "A huge light bulb that went off. I used to be a go-getter all the time, so what he said just reminded me that I was missing belief in myself. I wasn't competing; I was surviving."
Schreefel, who won her first tournament as a professional in Connecticut back in July, got a nice jolt of confidence when she slammed home her tee shot for her first hole-in-one today on the par-3 seventh hole.
The Dutch rookie gripped down a 5-iron on the 165-yard uphill hole and watched it bounce right and toward the hole. She never saw it land, but as she walked toward the green, she hoped it was for a tap-in birdie. Instead, her ball rested in the bottom of the cup.
But rather than letting up on the next hole, the former individual NCAA champion from the University of Southern California rolled in a birdie on the par-5 eighth hole from four feet.
"After that, I was feeling pretty good, but I knew the back nine is harder and I had to stay in it," said Schreefel, who is ranked ninth on the 2009 money list. "There's a lot of pressure on everybody this week. People tell me if I win, I'll get my [full LPGA] card. I don't want to get too much into that. I just want to play well."
Schreefel played the front nine at four-under par and the back nine at even par-35, with one birdie and one bogey.
Second-ranked Jean Reynolds of Newnan, Ga., and first-year Tour member Pornanong Phatlum of Chaiyaphum, Thailand, are one shot off the lead at 3-under 68.
Six players are at 2-under 69, including top-ranked Mina Harigae of Monterey, Calif., and No. 6 Angela Buzminski of Oshawa, Ontario. Harigae is a three-time winner this season.
A total of 26 players are under par after the first round, with 14 players scoring in the 60s.

GERMANY BEAT ITALY IN FINAL
placed sixth in Euro senior championship
Scotland finished sixth in the European senior women's amateur team championship at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club, south of Dublin in Co Wicklow.
They lost 4-1 to France in the play-off for fifth place.
England beat Spain 4-1 in the play-off for the bronze medals.
Last of the eight match-play qualifiers, Germany proved once again what we all know - match-play and stroke--play are two completely different forms of golf. The Germans were moderate over 36 holes of stroke-play but brilliant over three days of match-play to win the gold medals.
They beat another set of underdogs, seventh qualifiers, Italy 3-2 in an exciting final.
Germany lost the second and fifth singles early on, but a win in the foursomes on the 18th rallied the remaining ties still on the course. Hero of the day was former Senior British women's amateur champion Chris Utermarck who came from behind to hit the final green in regulation and clinch Germany’s first victory at this level.
Ireland, the No 1 seeds, suffered a third matchplay defeat in as many days to finish eighth of eight.
They lost the seventh place-play-off, 3-2 to Sweden, after looking like breaking their match-play duck at the final attempt.
Valerie Hassett and Violet McBride led the charge with a win on the home green and Sheena McElroy added a 5 and 4 victory to surge Ireland into a 2-0 lead.
Anna Donnerstad and Birgitta Ljung replied with levelling victories for Sweden, leaving the remaining match between Phil O’Gorman and Eva Lindberg as the deciding tie.
Unluckily for Ireland, the Swede holed from 25 feet to birdie the last and closed out the match with a par on the 19th after O’Gorman found trouble off the tee.
In the second flight, Belgium claimed 9th place with a convincing win over Switzerland while the Netherlands beat Finland to finish 11th. Austria defeated Denmark in the final fixture to finish 13th.

By MARTIN DEMPSTER
Midlothian have kept faith with a tried and tested side for the Scottish Women's County golf finals at Baberton later this month.
The selectors have picked the same players who won the East title earlier in the year.
A mix of youth and experience worked a treat on that occasion and there appeared to be no real need to make any changes for an event that will see them fight it out with Galloway, Northern Counties and Renfrewshire for the right to be crowned Scottish champions.
Midlothian open their campaign against Galloway on Friday, 18 September, before facing Renfrewshire then Northern Counties over the following two days.
As part of their preparations for the event, Midlothian recently took on a Baberton men's team at the Juniper Green course, giving a good account of themselves even though they lost narrowly.
Meanwhile, Baberton's Fiona McLaren and Louise Fraser from the host club were the main winners in the Midlothian Women's Autumn Meeting at Kingsknowe. McLaren lifted the McIntyre Trophy with a nett 69 off 14, while Fraser claimed the Lady Ford Cup with a scratch 74.
Midlothian team for the county finals:
K Blackwood (Craigmillar Park)
L Fraser (Kingsknowe)
C Hargan (Mortonhall)
C MacDonald (Gullane Ladies)
K Marshall (Baberton)
W Nicholson (Broomieknowe)
J Turner (Craigielaw)
R Watton (Mortonhall)
Reserve:
G MacDonald (Craigielaw).
+Kirkwoodgolf invites the other three qualifying counties - Galloway, Renfrewshire and Northern Counties - to send the names of their selected players for the Scottish county finals to Colin@scottishgolfview.com so that we can display them as we have done with Midlothian.

have to be switched from flooded Newmachar
Newmachar Golf Club's courses are closed until further notice because of the amount of rain that has fallen in the North-east over the past 48 hours.
This means that Sunday's Aberdeenshire girls' scratch and handicap championships semi-finals and finals - which were due to be played over the Newmachar Swailend course - will have to be switched to another venue, almost certainly a links venue if available, because all inland courses in the North-east will be having flooding problems.
Newburgh Golf Club has been pencilled in as an alternative for Sunday but this cannot be confirmed until organiser Ethel Farquharson returns on Saturday afternoon from a trip to Luton for the 100th birthday celebrations of her one-time neighbour, Betty Garrow.

Canadian Women's Open with 64
Australian Anna Rawson shot a course record of seven-under-par 64 but that only gave her a one-shot lead over Norway's Suzann Pettersen in the CN Canadian Women's Open at Priddis, Calgary in Alberta.
Rawson, 28, who has missed nine cuts in 13 starts this year, had nine birdies and two bogeys to break Dawn Coe-Jones' course mark by a shot.
Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa, the 2007 winner at Royal Mayfair in Edmonton, was two strokes back along with Amanda Blumenherst, while Michelle Wie opened with a 76.
Rawson played in ideal morning conditions.
"I really tried today to just stay in the moment," she said. "I'm so good at getting ahead of myself and saying, `Oh, if I get to 3, if I get to 4, if I get to 5 under.' So I just didn't even think about it."
It's the kind of approach that would make Kevin Sverduk proud.
The sports psychologist from Long Beach, Calif., started working with Rawson over the summer and has emphasized the importance of staying focused on the task at hand.
Rawson, a part-time model, confessed that she recently considered quitting golf, something she even withheld from her psychologist for a month.
"I think this year has just been terrible mentally," Rawson said. "Like I've just had the worst head that you could ever imagine.
"I don't even want to tell you what's been going through my head -- it's that bad. I thought about everything that I shouldn't. I really haven't hit the ball that bad. I just haven't been here. I haven't been enjoying it."
Ochoa had a bogey-free round.
"I'm really happy with that," Ochoa said. "It was important to get started in the right direction. I like my position."
Pettersen, coming off a play-off loss to M J Hur last week in the Safeway Classic in Oregon, also had a bogey-free round -- in windy afternoon conditions.
"Very, very tough because the wind is so gusty and it's swirling," Pettersen said. "Sometimes you think it's down and then it's dead into you, and then it's off the right and off the left. So you have to try to control the trajectory, which I'm doing really well right now."
Wie was even par -- two birdies and two bogeys -- through seven holes, then bogeyed six of the final 11 holes in her afternoon round. She tied for fourth last week at Pumpkin Ridge after going 3-0-1 in the United States' Solheim Cup victory over Europe.
"It's just hard when the wind is blowing," Wie said. "You don't really feel like your `A' game. It kind of gets magnified. I can't wait to get out there tomorrow and make some birdies early on."
Katherine Hull, the winner last year at Ottawa Hunt, shot a 73.
Ricoh Women's British Open champion Catriona Matthew from North Berwick had a 69, the same score as England's Karen Stupples, winner of the Women's British Open in 2004, also hit the two-under-par mark.
Laura Davies had a 69 and Glasgow's Janice Moodie a par 71.

SERIES VICTORY AT VALE OF GLAMORGAN
NEWS RELEASE
Sam Matton of Swindon overcame treacherous weather conditions to shoot a two-round total of 152 and win the Faldo Series UK Championship at The Vale of Glamorgan’s Wales National Golf Course by four strokes.
Supported by The R&A, the European Tour and the PGA, the sixth UK Championship of the year featured some exceptionally challenging weather, reflected by Matton’s winning six-over-par total with rounds of 74 and 78, but the 21-year-old best coped with the conditions to achieve his well-deserved victory against some of the best young golfing talent from the region.
In his fifth year as a member of the Faldo Series, Matton will now travel to this year’s Faldo Series Grand Final in Brazil for the first time, together with the four other age-category winners from The Vale of Glamorgan. Nick Faldo will host his thirteenth Grand Final at Itanhanga Golf Club in Rio de Janeiro on 28 – 30 October, giving all participants the opportunity to meet and draw inspiration from the six-time Major winner.

US COLLEGE NEWS
by the departed Nicky Maddison
Newcastle's Nicky Maddison has vanished from the Hutchinson Community College, Kansas golf roster - either he's stayed at home in England or he's been "poached" by a bigger-league colleague team after the stellar autumn-winter-spring season he had in the States last year.
But into the breach for "Hutch" has stepped another Englishman, Dale Middleton from Coventry.
Dale was very much under Maddison's shadow in his freshman year but now he seems ready to be inspired by the fact that he is the team's No 1.
Middleton won the first of six Jayhawk Conference-designated tournaments of the season on Monday at Quail Ridge Golf Club.
But maybe some back-up is needed for Jay because Hutchinson - the Blue Dragons - were used to winning team titles while Maddison was winning the individual honours last season. In this first event of the 2009-2010 campaign, Hutchinson could finish only second behind Johnson County in the one-day, 36-hole tournament. The Cavaliers shot 588, while the Blue Dragons struggled in the afternoon round to finish at 598 the first event
Middleton had rounds of 67 and 73 for a four-under-par total of 140. He won by a shot from Trevor Johanson (Johnson City) who scored 69 and 72. The two finished clear of third-place Ben Moser (Kansas City), who had 73 and 74 for 147.
Johnson County (588) won the team title by 10 shots from Hutchisnon with Allen County (611) third of the nine competing teams.

Scotland pile on misery for Ireland
Underdogs Italy and Germany - the seventh and eighth qualifiers for the match-play stages - will contest Friday's final of the European senior women's amateur golf championship at Dun Laoghaire.
Another surprise in Thursday's play was Scotland's 3-2 victory over Ireland who have now been beaten twice since heading the eight qualifers for the championship flight. The Scots will finish fifth if they complete their programme with a win over France.
In the semi-fnals, Germany shocked title favourites England with a 3-2 victory while Italy were not expected to win 3 1/2-3 1/2 against Spain.
Scotland's winners in the match against Ireland were the foursomes pairing of Heather Anderson (Alyth) and Fiona Hunter (Baberton) who beat Valerie Hassett and Violet McBride 3 and 1, and also, in the singles, Mary Smith (Tain), who beat Marilyn Henderson 2 and 1, and Lorna Bennett (Ladybank), who won by 3 and 2 over Phil O'Gorman.
FROM THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION WEBSITE:
England lost a close battle with Germany 3-2 in the semi-finals of the European senior ladies’ team championship at Dun Laoghaire in Ireland. Friday's final will be between Germany and Italy, while England’s target is to win the bronze medal by beating Spain in the play-off for third place.
England captain Sue Westall commented: “We are very disappointed but we will re-group and we will go all out to win the bronze medal.”
Once again, bad weather dominated the event. The players had to contend with strong winds, squally showers, sleet and hail – but they all rose to the occasion.
“Given the weather, the standard of golf was phenomenal,” said Sue.
Germany took the first point, with a comfortable win in the foursomes after England’s pair started nervously and were quickly three down. They rallied, but were unable to make up the deficit.
Janet Melville and Sue Dye put England ahead when they both scored comfortable singles victories. But the honours were again even after Jo Ashmore lost on the 17th.
The outcome of the day depended on the match involving double English senior champion Chris Quinn, who was battling through the worst of the weather. Her on-form opponent won the 18th to take the match into extra time and eventually secured Germany’s place in the final with a birdie on the 20th.

LPGA TOUR NEWS
The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic will return next year, ending months of speculation about whether it would join other LPGA tournaments that have folded in the last year.
The tournament extended its contract with the LPGA for one more year and will take place July 1-4 at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in suburban Toledo, Ohio.
Tournament host and actor Jamie Farr had given the event a 50-50 chance of being around next year when he was asked about it a day before this year's first round.
The LPGA Tour has lost seven tournaments since 2007, including all three events in Hawaii.
The Farr Classic will have a $1 million purse next year, organisers said. The Farr's $1.4 million purse in July was among the smallest on the LPGA tour.

European senior women's amateur team championship
BEAT LEADING QUALIFIERS IRELAND
Scotland lost 3 1/2-1 1/2 to England on a day when top seeds and hosts Ireland surprisingly went down by a similar scoreline to Germany, the last of the eight qualifiers for the top flight of the European senior women's amateur team golf championship at Dun Laoghaire.
In the semi-finals it will be England v Germany and Spain and France v Italy.
Italy, the No 7 qualifiers, beat Sweden, the defending champions and second seeds, 3-2.
Scotland's only winners in a match decided over one foursome and four singles were the alternate shot pairing of Heather Anderson (Alyth) and Fiona Hunter (Baberton). They beat Christine Stirling and Lucy Newton by 2 and 1.
In the singles, Mary Smith (Tain) lost by 2 and 1 to Chris Quinn, Fiona De Vries (St Rule lost by 4 and 3 to Janet Melville and Moira Thomson (Gullane Ladies) lost by 3 and 2 to Sue Dye.
Lorna Bennett (Ladybank) had a square match with Jo Ashmore.
The best that Scotland can now achieve is fifth place and the first hurdle to be cleared in that direction is a strong Ireland team who will be smarting after their unexpected reverse on home turf.
FROM THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION WEBSITE:
England were the only seeds from the top four to survive the first round of match-play. The quarter-finals provided a series of upsets as the top three qualifiers tumbled out of the hunt for medals. Leading qualifiers Ireland lost to Germany, second favourites Sweden fell to Italy, while third qualifiers France suffered a similar fate at the hands of Spain.
England, however, staged a fine performance in the difficult conditions. “The rain was torrential,” said team captain Sue Westall.
“At one time, looking out of the clubhouse, it was just a white-out. I have never seen anything like it, but the course is fantastic in the way it just soaks it up. Our girls just plugged away and played brilliantly to win.”
The England team narrowly lost the foursomes but were superb in the singles. England’s double senior champion, Chris Quinn, had an eagle and four birdies on her way to victory; Janet Melville holed a seven-iron for eagle on the eighth as she set up a comfortable win; while Sue Dye played strongly at the back of the order to secure the win. Jo Ashmore’s match was then declared a half, although she was up at the time.

Murcar Links Golf Club player Carol Wilson slashed three strokes off her home-course women's record with a round of four-under-par 68 to win the Aberdeenshire women's county open meeting this week.
The previous record of 71 was held by clubmate Donna Pocock.
Carol's figures were:
OUT: 3 4 4 4 3 5 4 3 4 - 34.
IN: 4 4 4 4 5 4 2 3 4 - 34
She had birdies at the first, fourth, eighth, 16th and 17th with only one bogey, at the 12th. The CSS for the competition was 76.
Carol, whose handicap has come down to two after her splendid score, also holds the women's course records at Kemnay (72) and Ballater (66).

next week in Duke of York Young
Champions' event at Dundonald
NEWS RELEASE
David Law, the first player to have won the Scottish men's amateur and the Scottish boys' championships in the one year, is out to capture The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy over Dundonald Links from September 8 to 10 (Tuesday to Thursday next week).
The 18-year-old Law, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, could have his work cut out. Apart from having Tom Lewis, the English and British boys’ champion, in the field, he will be up against 56 other top juniors from 34 different countries with handicaps averaging +1.
These include Claudio Vigano, who won The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy in 2007, and Jeroen Krietemeijer, the Dutch golfer who came out on top at this year’s European Young Masters.
Law will also need to keep half an eye on the girls who play for the same coveted piece of silverware. As recently as 2007, two girls featured in what was a three-way tie for second place, two shots off the pace.
Perrine Delacour, the 15-year-old French player who won the recent British girls’ championship at West Lancashire, is one who could make for trouble, with the extraordinary 14-year-old Klara Spilkova another.
Spilkova returned scores of 68, 65 and 69 at Golf National to win the girls’ section of the European Young Masters by 14 shots, while she created another record when she captured the German girls’ international championship with seven shots to spare. She also featured in the recent Junior Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms.
Dundonald Links is in perfect shape for an event which, with its royal connections, might strike Law as being right up his street. After all, he won his Scottish Boys’ at Royal Aberdeen and his Scottish Amateur at Royal Troon.
“The event gets better and better every year,” said HRH the Duke of York. “Dundonald will ask difficult questions of these leading youngsters but I am sure they will come up with some great golf.”
Apart from Tom Lewis, England will be represented by 15-year-old Elizabeth Mallett (Sutton Coldfield) who reached the final of the British girls championship at West Lancashire last month and another 15-year-old, Alexandra Peters (Notts Ladies) who was beaten in the semi-final by the French girl who went on to win the title.

European senior team match-play
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
Ireland created history by leading the field after the qualifying rounds of the 15 nation European Senior Ladies’ Team Championship at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club.
In high winds and thundery showers, Ireland’s Valerie Hassett led the host nation’s challenge with an impressive 77 which looked highly unlikely after opening bogeys at the first, second and fourth. Her experience carried her through the rocky start with birdies at the seventh, 13th and 18th to complete a solid back nine in just one over par.
Marilyn Henderson and Sheena McElroy were next best with two 78s which spurred Ireland to an unassailable lead of six shots over defending champions Sweden. Anki Hermansson and Eva Lindberg returned two 79s which saw them lead Spain by seventeen shots in third place, followed closely by England, Scotland and France.
Ireland now face eighth qualifiers Germany while Scotland face third favourites England for a place in the semi finals. Elsewhere, Spain play France in the tie of the round while second favourites Sweden play Italy.
Live Scoring throughout the event, is available at www.ilgu.ie.

Birkdale Scratch Cup
Charlotte Wild, from Mere Golf Club, Cheshire, will come to Ayrshire for next week's Women's Home Internationals at Irvine Golf Club with some recent winning form to boost her confidence. She won last Friday's Royal Birkdale Ladies Scratch Cup.
Not that Charlotte needs a confidence-booster. She has had a great season.
Charlotte, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency in action at Royal Aberdeen, 19-year-old winner of the Critchley Salver 36-hole tournament at Sunningdale and the English women's stroke-play title this year, had rounds of 81 and 78 - which suggests it was a bad day weather-wise, for a winning total of nine-over-par 159 over Royal Birkdale's classic links which will stage the Ricoh Women's British Open next year.
Charlotte finished third in the event last year and rates Royal Birkdale as her favourite course in the UK.
She won by a single stroke from West Lancashire player Corisande Lee, who had the best second round of 75, and Pleasington, Blackburn player Nikki Foster who had an afternoon 76, both for 160.
Junior Solheim Cup player and local member Kelly Tidy finished fourth on 162 with scores of 77 and 85
Surprise leader in the event was Catherine Rawthore from Sale ith a first-round 73 but she faded to a 90 in the second round to finish fifth on 163.

FROM THE TELEGRAPH.CO.UK WEBSITE
By RICHARD SAVILL
A female caddy service which provides models trained in golf etiquette has been banned from a number of courses for "damaging the reputation of the sport".
The women, who wear tight-fitting pink uniforms, are provided by Eye Candy Caddies, which describes its service as the “gorgeous new solution for unforgettable golf days.”
However, Leaderboard, a golfing firm, has imposed a ban on them at four courses, Chart Hills in Biddenden, Kent; Dale Hill in Wadhurst, East Sussex; Sandford Springs in Kingsclere, Hants; and The Oxfordshire Golf Club in Oxford.
A spokesman for Leaderboard said: "Anyone who seriously cares about the development of the game should work to ensure that it is as professional, inclusive, and culturally inoffensive as any other major sport.
"Exploiting outmoded notions of golf as a male bastion is not 'just a bit of fun', it damages the reputation of the sport as a whole as well as its appeal to members of the younger generation of either sex."
The Eye Candy website suggests the service is primarily for the corporate market. Caddies can be hired out at £230 for a day’s golf. The agency promotes its service by claiming that with “an Eye Candy caddie by your side, other golfers will be green with envy.”
It adds that its “team of girls in attractive uniforms are much more than just a pretty face.”
Katy Glyn, one of the models, describes herself as having “bombshell” looks, and says her favorite food is chocolate and almonds.
Another, Abbie Burrows, 27, a professional flautist, who has played private concerts for the Queen and the Prince of Wales, and also appeared on the BBC1 programme Songs of Praise, said: "Put simply it is corporate hospitality, much the same as I have done at Wembley, Ascot, and Twickenham. We act as hostesses, serve drinks, smile and chat to guests.”
She added: "We have learnt the rules of golf and that we shouldn't speak as a player takes a shot, or not to stand in the line of a putt.
"A lot of the time we go in the buggy with the player, but we don’t carry the bags around. We offer up the clubs when they are needed, just like any normal caddy would."
The company's managing director, Sarah Stacey, said: "We add that extra sparkle and difference to any golf day and put a smile on people's faces.
"All the girls are trained in the etiquette of golf and uniformed in appropriate golf attire. They all sign a code of conduct so everyone is clear about the boundaries."
The code of conduct says models are “not encouraged” to fraternize with clients at the end of an assignment.
It adds: “If a client asks a model to engage in social activities after an assignment has ended, it is the model’s responsibility to refuse the offer or if accepting to make it clear that he or she is doing so on a personal basis.”

Sorenstam retired from the LPGA Tour last year at the age of 38 after 72 victories and 10 major titles, saying she wanted to start a business and a family.
She married Mike McGee, son of a former US Tour player, Jerry McGee, in January near the couple's home in Florida.

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY CLUBGOLF
Over 250 children from school and golf clubs across Scotland taking part in clubgolf programmes were given a unique opportunity to develop their skills at Gleneagles last week.
The children - from Angus, Clackmannanshire, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow, Perthshire, and West Lothian - were all treated to a one hour coaching session from PGA professionals and clubgolf volunteer coaches; instruction covered bunker play, putting and the full swing. Then they watched Europe’s top professional golfers playing the tournament.
“The children were really excited to have this opportunity and they got a lot out of the day,” said Lynn Brown, a classroom assistant from South Muir Primary School in Angus.
“They all play golf and they have good opportunities to play the game locally. Not many children can say they have been to Gleneagles and a day like today will help keep them interested in the game. We are really grateful to clubgolf and Gleneagles for inviting us.”
Said Hazel Hume, a teacher at Deer Park Primary School in Clackmannanshire: “The children all said this was a fabulous experience. They did chipping, putting and learnt how to get out of a bunker and they loved it. They watched the Pros teeing off and saw Callum Macaulay on the 18th - he’s our local golfer and he gave them a wave which made their day.”
Launched at Gleneagles in 2003 as a lasting legacy to Scotland’s successful bid to host the Ryder Cup, clubgolf is the national junior golf programme formed through the partnership of the Scottish Golf Union, the Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association, the Professional Golfers' Association, the Golf Foundation and sportscotland.
This year clubgolf introduced 38,784 of Scotland’s primary school children to the golf through the programmes introductory game.
Junior coaching last week is part of Gleneagles’ and the European Tour’s commitment to promoting junior golf in Scotland through clubgolf.
Other major golf events in Scotland this summer, including The Open at Turnberry and the Scottish Hydro Challenge at Spey Valley, also featured clubgolf coaching.
For the sixth year in succession clubgolf is giving hundreds of children the opportunity to experience Gleneagles by offering participating clubs the chance to play on The Wee Course between June and October.
Martin Ritchie clubgolf Regional Manager for Tayside & Fife said: “It was great to see so many kids eager to participate in the coaching sessions over the four days and we would like to thank Gleneagles and the European Tour for helping us create this fabulous opportunity.
“Judging from the feedback from children, their teachers and our coaches, the visit was a huge success and will no doubt help keep them involved and progressing in the game.”

Staffordshire’s Bronwyn Davies won the EWGA Midlands North regional girls’ championship with a level par score over 36 holes at Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire.
Bronwyn, from Wolstanton, was two-over par in the morning and two-under in the afternoon. The 16-year-old, from EWGA’s Select Midlands Squad, won by a shot from Megan Illingworth, who was playing on her home course. The championship was played between storms but, despite the conditions, produced some magnificent golf. One spectator watched the afternoon three-ball of Bronwyn Davies, Lianna Bailey of Nottinghamshire and Kirsty Condon of Lincolnshire and calculated that they had 15 birdies and an eagle between them.
The Midlands North region is made up of six counties: Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire.

North of England championship
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Cheshire’s Bronte Law (pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, receiving the best under-14 performance prize in the recent British girls championship at West Lancs) beat the mixed field by four shots in the North of England U16 championship at Heswall.
Bronte, 14, from the English Women’s Golf Association Select North Squad, is thought to be the first girl to top the leaderboard in this event. She did it with scores of 76, 72, 70 and 79 for a one-over par total on the girls’ card of 297. She won both the girls’ U16 and U14 trophies. Bronte’s closest overall challenger was Heswall’s Oliver Carr, who finished on 301, while she was 10 shots clear of the next girl, Luna Sobron of Spain.
Chris Williamson, manager of EWGA’s championship squad, said: “It was just amazing to see Bronte’s name at the top of the leaderboard. She played extremely well and everyone admired her golf and her businesslike approach.”
Bronte took the lead with a four-under par 70 in the third round, which like the final round, was played in strong winds interspersed with heavy downpours. “You had to fight out there,” said Bronte. “It was really hard, very tiring. It made it difficult to concentrate because you were putting your brolly up and down and trying to keep everything dry. But it was good! “Everything just felt right for me all week. I trusted my swing and focussed on the golf course. It’s great.” This was Bronte’s last event before she returns to school at the end of a successful summer. Her other wins include the U18 title at the English stroke-play championship and the North region girls’ championship. She is also Cheshire girls’ champion

Caithness & Sutherland women's inter-club
grip on the scratch Ord Salver
By ROBIN WILSON
Thurso Golf Club's two-year hold on the Ord Salver, the scratch trophy in the Caithness & Sutherland women's inter-club competition, was broken at Golspie Golf Club at the weekend by a strong Royal Dornoch team of single-figure handicappers who coped best with the very wet and windy conditions.
Royal Dornoch's scratch success, there sixth since the inauguration of the competition in 1981, arrived courtesy of their strongest team, that was made up of two Northern Counties team members, Pam Mackay and Alison Bartlett, backed up by Claire Riddell and Lady Captain, Elizabeth Coghill. Missing only was club and North champion, Cara Gruber.
Dornoch's eventual winning total of 247 (best three scores from four) was spearheaded by Riddell, an 80, followed by Mackay's 81 and Coghill's 86. Bartlett had a poor day in the foul weather and her 93 was the discarded score.
The Royal Dornoch team were 15 shots ahead of Brora's scratch total of 262 but Brora ended up with the Beatrice Trophy for their net total of 229 – Marlene Bokas (11) 75, Lesley Beaney (8) 76 and Elizabeth Grant (14) 78. The net card of 83, off 13, from fourth team member Pat Ashe was discarded.
Brora's handicap success allowed the scratch holders, Thurso, to finish as scratch runners up.
The Caithness-based team of Eileen Manson, Nadia Green, Anne Simmonite and Angela Williamson had cards of 84, 88, 106 and 106 respectively for a 54-hole gross total of 278. Hosting club Golspie were placed second in the handicap returns. Noelle Mackay (18) 78, Sheila Robertson (12) 79 and Jennifer Stewart (19) 81 were their counting scores and Anne Macrae (10) 84 the discarded score for a total of 238.
Such was the inclement weather, the CSS was non-counting and reductions only applied. Only a member of Royal Dornoch's number three team, Margaret Ross, and from the the host club's second team, Caroline Logie came anywhere near to matching their handicaps both with net 73s.
The event next year for its 13th anniversary will be staged at Wick Golf Club

for LET's Finnair Masters
Spain's Beatriz Recari eagled the first play-off hole to win the Finnair Masters for her first Ladies European Tour victory today.
The 22-year-old from the famous bull-run city of Pamplona, who was third last year for her first top-10 finish, used a 4-iron to hole out from about 190yd on the 18th hole.
"My mind was blank, but I knew it was a good shot," Recaro said. "Then I saw the crowd go crazy. This will mean so much for my career. I have had two years of hard work and learning, and now I stand here."
Recari and Iben Tinning of Denmark finished tied at 11 under for a 54-hole score of 202.
Recari equalled the course record with a 65 in the opening round Friday, then beat it with 64 Saturday.
Play was interrupted for 45 minutes because of the risk of thunder when Recari's lead had gone from five to two strokes after 10 holes.
"I had not been in this situation, never going out as a leader, and I felt some pressure and was struggling a bit," she said. "But the break was good for me, I could calm down and approach the situation again."
Defending champion Minea Blomqvist of Finland, Becky Brewerton of Wales and Marianne Skarpnord of Norway and Johanna Westerberg of Sweden shared third place at 206.

PAUL LAWRIE FOUNDATION BOYS MATCH-PLAY FINALS With perfect golf conditions overhead and the course in world class condition, the scene was set for some real fireworks in the two semi finals of the boys' matchplay. It was last year's winner, Ryan Bain, who was first to settle into his rythm finding the fairways with ease with his driver. Young Andrew Carrell (14)was always up against it as he continually found trouble off the tee. Andrew went three down early on and he found himself chasing the experienced Bain throughout the match. In the end Ryan ran out a comfortable winner with a fine display of Links golf. |

LPGA TOUR REPORT
Janice slumps and Catriona misses cut
Sweden's Anna Nordqvist, who has made such a successful, seamless switch from successful amateur to successful tour pro, shot a 3-under 69 on Satuday to take a one-stroke lead over Seon Hwa Lee and Ai Miyazato going into the final round of the Safeway Classic.
Nordqvist, who won the LPGA Championship earlier this year and played in the recent Solheim Cup match, was at 10-under 134 after the first two rounds at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, North Plains in Oregon.
Miyazato had three straight birdies on Nos. 8-10, all par-5 holes, to climb up the leaderboard with a 68, while Lee sank a birdie putt on the par-4 18th hole and wound up with a 70.
Nordqvist, a star of the Arizona State University team a year or two back, was her usual unflappable self, following up bogeys on the eighth and 14th holes with birdies.
"I just kept hanging in there," she said.
In June, Nordqvist won the McDonald's LPGA Championship by four strokes over Lindsey Wright. It was just her fifth professional tournament.
Lee, a South Korean who won twice on the tour last year but has yet to have a victory this season, joked about her strategy for Sunday's round.
"My plan for tomorrow is to hit the fairways, hit the greens and make putts," she said with a giggle.
Miyazato won for the first time at the Evian Masters in July.
Michele Redman (69) and Suzann Pettersen (68) were at 8 under.
Beth Bader, who led by a stroke after the first round, had a 73 and was three shots off the pace at 7 under. Bader opened with a 64, her best round since 2007 and her best start at a tournament since the season opener in 2003.
Defending champion Cristie Kerr had a 70, while Michelle Wie shot a 71. Each goes into the final round at 5 under. Both were on the U.S. Solheim Cup team that defeated Europe last weekend in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
Before Saturday's round got under way, Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak withdrew for undisclosed reasons. She shot a 69 on Saturday. Most of the Solheim Cuppers are pleading fatigue.
It was a bad day for the Scots Solheim Cup pair, Janice Moodie and Catriona Matthew. Janice fell out of the top five with a 78 - 12 shots more than her first round - for 144, making the cut by one shot. But Catriona finished on the wrong side of the cut line despite a second-round 68 (an improvement of nine shots) for 145. Laura Davies was on the same mark.
